SPECIAL CALLED SESSION
Tuesday, January 9, 1996 3:30 p.m.
The Lincoln Parish School Board met in Special Called Session on Tuesday, January 9, 1996 at 3:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Lincoln Parish School Board Office, 410 South Farmerville Street, Ruston, Louisiana. Members present were Mr. David Wright, Mr. Billy Abrahm, Mr. Wayne Barfield, Dr. Marty Beasley, Mrs. Loyace Braggs, Mr. Curtis Dowling, Mr. Jim Kessler, Mr. George Mack, Mr. Joe Mitcham, Mr. Rob Shadoin, and Mr. Allen Tuten.
Absent was Mr. Calvin Wilkerson.
President Wright called the meeting to order, gave the invocation, and lead the Board in the pledge of allegiance to the American flag.
He welcomed guests, members of the staff, and media.
Mr. Randy Moore, Principal of Ruston High School, presented the single personnel item of naming a new head football coach to replace Mr. Billy Gillum who was reassigned to other duties. Superintendent Gerald Cobb, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Ronnie Suggs, and Mr. Moore served as a committee and interviewed all qualified applicants for the position. He shared their unanimous recommendation of Mr. Joey Pender for the position.
Upon a motion by Dr. Beasley, seconded by Mr. Dowling, the Board unanimously voted to follow the committee's recommendation and employ Mr. Joey Pender as head football coach at Ruston High School effective January 16, 1996.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by acclamation at 3:40 p.m.
