CLASS RANKINGS

 

 

RANKING CRITERIA

 

All Lincoln Parish System High Schools will rank graduating seniors using the following criteria:

 

  1. In order to be considered for a Louisiana Honors Scholarship a student must have been a legal resident (as defined by Section VIII A. of the Louisiana Honors Scholarship Manual) in the school district and must be a bona fide active student in the school in which he/she is applying for at least one full school year prior to application.  Legal proof of residence may be required by presenting drivers license, income tax forms, or voter registration card.
     

  2. All graduating seniors are ranked by grade point averages (GPA) calculated from letter grades received in academic courses pursued.  These courses must apply toward graduation.
     

    Note:

    An academic course is defined as any course in which the student receives a letter grade (A,B,C,D,F) and the course applies toward graduation.

B = 3 pts

B = 4 pts

 

C = 2 pts

C = 3 pts

 

D = 1 pt

D = 1.5 pts

 

F = 0 pts

 

F = 0  pts

 

  1. Find the number of each type of letter grade (A,B,C,D, or F) that appears on the transcript.
     

  2. Multiply the point value of each type of grade times the number of that type grade that appears on the transcript.
     

  3. Find the sum of these products.
     

  4. Divide the sum by the total number of courses pursued.
     

 

This will yield the overall GPA.

 

TIE BREAKER CRITERIA

 

Tie breakers will be resolved by a formal meeting of the SBLC based on the following documented criteria:

 

  1. Highest composite ACT score

  2. Longest length tenure at the school in semesters

  3. Recommendation of School Building Level Committee (SBLC)
